How We Chose the Best HTML Editor Software
Thirty years ago, when people started to build websites, the only way they could do it was with HTML. These days you have many other coding choices, including Perl, PHP, Joomla!, and Debian/Ubuntu. Even with these new coding languages, however, it’s best to use an HTML editor to build a website.
HTML editors come in two forms: WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) and text editors. We evaluated HTML editors based on the criteria below to provide you with a guide you can use when selecting an HTML editing tool.
HTML Editing Features
It’s always a good idea to have some previous HTML knowledge. But even if you don’t, we recommend software that includes HTML editing features such as an HTML entities library, autocomplete, and split screen.
Integrations
Many coding tools exist to help you build user-friendly websites. HTML software should also include pre-built integrations for tools that are often used together with HTML editor software.
Reports
Whether you’re building your own website or you work at a firm that builds websites for many people, you’ll want to understand how you can improve your skills. Detailed reports help you assess and improve your HTML editing practices.
