Along with strong performance in user reviews, Lattice also offers a streamlined design that comes with a deep range of features without overwhelming users. Unlike some more limited platforms, it covers virtually every aspect of employee engagement, including performance reviews, objectives and key results (OKR) analytics, surveys, career plans, and more.

Lattice focuses on connecting team members for internal communication, with built-in benchmarks to help you monitor changes in your performance over time. It's particularly focused on employee surveys, giving users preset templates and sending them out quickly to your entire team through email. Employees can even respond to each other's feedback for a more open discussion.

Its customer service is backed up by strong praise from real users, who report that the team offered quick, informative responses when they needed help. Gtmhub is our choice as the provider with the best support in 2022.

In December 2021, Gtmhub announced that it had raised a full $120 million in series C funding, which it claimed was the largest amount raised by any company in the OKRs space so far. Unfortunately, we checked its website and weren't able to find a roadmap later than Q1 2021, which led to some concern about how actively the Gtmhub team is updating the platform. However, we found many positive reviews from the second half of 2021, so most users still appear to be having a good experience.

After a 14-day free trial, you'll be able to pay for Gtmhub by the month or by the year for a discount of roughly 20 percent. At $9 per user, per month, the Start tier comes with basic features for smaller teams. Scale adds extra features like key performance indicators

Unlike most of the other providers we've looked at, 15Five gives users detailed information about recent updates on its Releases page. With more than 20 releases in 2021 alone, it's clear that the team is dedicated to keeping the application running as well as possible. In September 2021, for example, 15Five introduced a new career hub tool that helps connect employee career goals to needs and positions available within the organization.

New users can get a 14-day free trial of 15Five after filling out a quick questionnaire about their organization. From there, you can continue with one of four subscriptions. The basic Engage plan costs $4 per user, per month, billed annually, and comes with a limited toolkit. There are two different subscriptions at $8 per user, per month, billed annually, one that focuses on employee performance and another that prioritizes OKR management. At $14 per user, per month, billed annually, the Total Platform option includes all features from both of those subscriptions plus data processing addendums (DPAs) and security questionnaires.

Each organization has its own unique employee engagement practices, and it isn't always easy to find software that aligns with your specific workflow. BambooHR offers two different basic subscription tiers, plus a long list of optional add-ons that make the application even more robust. You can add payroll, time tracking, or performance management easily to either plan without having to pay for the others. It's the most customizable employee engagement software and overall HR solution we've seen in 2022.

In July 2020, BambooHR came out with a new Project Tracking feature that enables managers to see and analyze the time and resources spent on each project, or even on an individual task. You can also mark certain projects or tasks easily as billable or nonbillable. On the other hand, we couldn't find many details about more recent updates — in contrast to 15Five, BambooHR doesn't appear to receive many regular changes.

BambooHR offers a seven-day free trial — not as long as we've found from other providers, but still more than enough to get a feel for the platform. While the Essentials and Advantage tiers come with clear sets of features, its prices are tailored to each unique user, and the same is true for the extra add-ons. Its sales team will be able to give you a quote and more information about BambooHR's services.

Connecteam offers a 14-day free trial, but there's also a lifetime free plan that comes with time tracking, task delegation, training, schedule management, and other basic features for up to 50 users. While it's not as robust as the paid alternatives we've covered, Connecteam is still the best free employee engagement software available in 2022.

Connecteam has received several new releases throughout 2021, including an October 2021 update that added in a new tool called Courses. Instead of printing out materials for things like onboarding employees, training for new positions, or announcing company policies, you can create them through Courses and make them accessible to your entire team. Users can view all material from Courses from within the Connecteam mobile app.

If you need more than what the free plan offers, you can upgrade to a paid Connecteam subscription starting at $47 per month for up to 50 users — 60 extra cents per month for each additional user. That tier includes things like absence management, timesheet history, and geolocation stamps, but the Advanced plan adds even more features, such as auto-scheduling, bulk actions, and geofencing with up to 10 sites for $95 per month for up to 50 users, which is $1.80 more per month for each extra user). At $191 per month for up to 50 users — $3.60 more per month per extra user — Expert includes process automation, custom reports, employee onboarding, and more. You can also ask about a custom enterprise solution if you want even more functionality.

You can protect content easily by pulling it up in the Blink interface, clicking on the "…" button, and switching over the "Protect" slider.

Blink is also one of the most affordable services we've seen, with subscriptions available from $3.40 per user, per month, for the Essentials tier. That plan comes with basic features like staff directories, internal messaging, custom app branding, and a content management system. The Business, Enterprise, and Enterprise Plus tiers are available for a custom quote, adding a variety of additional tools, such as digital form integration (Business and above), application programming interface (API) access and SSO (Enterprise and above), and custom digital forms plus on-demand translation (Enterprise Plus only).

While the Listen service itself is primarily focused on gathering and responding to employee feedback, it also connects to Achievers Recognize, which is built to develop culture through employee recognition, perks, and rewards. For example, clients can work with Uber and more than 2,500 other partners to provide branded rewards for their teams.

The Listen and Recognize services are centralized in the Achievers Employee Experience platform, so you can leverage both at once as part of the same subscription. However, new users can ask for a demo of Listen, Recognize, or both, which indicates that standalone subscriptions are also available for each individual service. While a handful of reviewers referenced high prices, it's hard to say whether that reflects a typical experience.

While the mobile app hasn't fared well in customer reviews, Kazoo is a popular tool for desktop users. It's also used by several high-profile companies, including Allianz, Kia, and Kaiser Permanente.

The most recent addition we were able to find to Kazoo is a feature called Special Recognition, which is intended for major accomplishments and milestones like birthdays and employee of the year awards. That update introduced new tokens that employees can earn through these achievements and spend on rewards that are specifically curated for Special Recognition. Unfortunately, this was released in April 2021 and still appears to be the latest new feature.

Pricing for Kazoo subscriptions depends on whether you need access to Recognition, Performance, or both sides of the platform. Combined plans include the features from both, but they also come with a slight discount of roughly 10 percent compared to paying for each one separately. Recognition alone starts at $5 per employee, per month, billed annually, but that drops to $4.25 per month for teams with 250-1,000 users. Similarly, Performance rates drop from $9 per employee, per month, billed annually, down to $7.25 at 250 employees while combined subscriptions go from $12.50 to $10.50. Clients with 1,000 or more employees can request a custom rate based on their volume.

Usability

Employee engagement software is built to make engagement easier, so you don't want an application that adds unnecessary complications to your workflow. 15Five is our choice as the easiest platform to use in 2022 due to its intuitive interface, third-party integrations, and strong performance in user reviews.

It's worth noting that ease of use sometimes conflicts with overall functionality. While 15Five might be simpler than the other applications we looked at, it's not as comprehensive as alternatives like Kudos and Blink, particularly when working with complex workflows.
