Workday Adaptive Planning is an "enterprise planning" platform that covers cash flow management and many other areas of business finance. When researching this platform, we were struck by its comprehensive set of features, visually appealing interface, strong performance in customer reviews, and integrations with some of the most popular third-party applications. While no application can be perfect for every single user, Adaptive is our top recommendation as the best overall cash flow management service in 2022.

Along with cash flow management, Adaptive also provides skill-based workforce planning designed to streamline workflows. Users can integrate data directly from human capital management (HCM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to monitor their performance and view a variety of analytics. With built-in support for what-if scenarios, they can also plan for unforeseen developments, including everything from new regulations to changes in audience interest.

New Adaptive users can test out the platform with a free trial. While the website also offers an online demo, visitors can only watch another user work with the application — the demo doesn't appear to come with any interactivity. After that, subscriptions are tailored to each unique client. There's no way to predict how much you'll spend until you get a custom quote from its team, but reviewers seem to be generally happy with the value offered by Adaptive.

Pros & Cons

What Customers Are Saying

Adaptive’s review score isn’t quite as high as Biller Genie and a few other alternatives, but it’s still at the higher end of cash flow management platforms. Specifically, we noticed that the average rating was pulled down by mixed comments about the difficulty of the initial setup process.

We would never recommend a provider with poor customer satisfaction, but Biller Genie still stands out from the rest of the platforms we covered due to its incredibly positive customer feedback. With a perfect average score of 5 out of 5, it's one of the most popular applications we've ever reviewed. When reading through feedback, we noticed that nearly every customer was able to cut costs and make their workflow more efficient. It's the best choice in 2022 for clients who are primarily concerned with user reviews.

Even at the end of 2021, the latest feature update on the Biller Genie blog had been posted in June. That post announced several new tools and resources: a redesign for reminder emails, including new customization options, a centralized billing center with information about the user's subscription, and new additions to the Help Center. While those changes may be helpful, they didn't give us a great impression of the trajectory of the platform.

Biller Genie offers a free demo, and it should be able to give you a quote during that initial consultation. You can also leverage its payment processing services for the same rate as QuickBooks: 2.9% plus 25 cents per transaction. While the Biller Genie website claims that "there are no monthly fees and no cancellation fees," reviewers noted that they paid other charges, such as a $25 minimum processing fee per month and a separate fee for paper notices.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Outstanding user reviews

Cons

  • Unclear billing practices

What Customers Are Saying

While all software receives some criticism, most of the complaints we found were relatively minor. In particular, there were concerns about the cost of Biller Genie compared to other providers. However, we weren't able to find any serious complaints about its functionality or ease of use.

Free cash flow management software is hard to find, and free subscriptions naturally tend to be much less powerful compared to paid alternatives. While CashFlowTool's free plan is similarly limited, it still comes with enough features for some small teams to manage their money. Furthermore, free users can forecast cash flow up to four weeks in advance, giving them an idea of what to expect in the near future. You'll need to put some money down if you want a more comprehensive service, but CashFlowTool is the best free tool we've seen in 2022.

Unfortunately, CashFlowTool doesn't appear to receive many new releases. When looking at its website, we noticed that it hadn't posted any information about a single update throughout all of 2021. There was only one blog post at all: an article explaining the benefits of a hosted QuickBooks desktop environment. Recent users still seem to be having positive experiences, but that still isn't a good sign of the direction the application is taking.

The free CashFlowTool plan supports one business and one user, four weeks of forecasting, email support, and other simple features. At $50 per month or $42 per month, billed annually, the Pro tier includes unlimited users, six months of forecasting, and extra features, such as Excel and PDF reports, secure document storage, and what-if scenarios. Pro Plus runs $100 per month or $83 per month, billed annually, and adds in Finagraph setup support, extra training resources, plus phone support.

Pros & Cons

Pros

What Customers Are Saying

With an average review score of 4.5 out of 5, CashFlowTool is competitive with most other leading cash flow management providers. However, we were only able to find 14 unique reviews, so it's difficult to draw any clear conclusions from their experiences.

When you're looking for cash flow management software, you want to find an application that simplifies the process of staying on top of your money. While every user has their own unique preferences, we found that Float is hard to beat when it comes to ease of use and the overall learning curve for new users. It offers a simple, clear design, integrates with popular accounting platforms like Xero, QuickBooks, and FreshAgent, and has received high marks on usability from many different reviewers. It's our pick as the easiest cash flow management software to use in 2022.

Xero and QuickBooks users can leverage a dedicated Float app for either of those accounting services. Like some of the other cash flow management providers we looked at, Float has a disappointing update history that doesn't seem to include a single change in 2021 or even the second half of 2020. We were surprised to see that on its website given that the blog itself is still updated regularly with new posts.

Float is currently available in three subscription tiers: Essential ($69 per month or $59 per month, billed annually), Premium ($119 per month or $99 per month, billed annually), and Enterprise ($249 per month or $199 per month, billed annually). Essential comes with three users, three years of forecasting, a weekly summary email, and email customer service. Premium includes ten users and a one-on-one quarterly review with a Float team member. Enterprise subscribers get 100 users, priority support, monthly reviews, and a dedicated account manager.

If you're in the market for a comprehensive cash flow management service, we would recommend starting your search with Anaplan. It's designed to connect mid- to large-sized organizations through internal communications, data sharing, and other key functions. Unlike applications that focus more narrowly on cash management, Anaplan offers a broad range of features, including organizational security and data-driven decision making. While it might be more than some smaller teams need, we think it's the best all-in-one solution available in 2022.

The Anaplan development team seems to put out at least one new version of the platform each month. A November 2021 release, for example, introduced many improvements to the user interface, including new formatting options for presentations. It also gave users the ability to analyze their sales history by seasons and other trends to extract more insights from their data.

Anaplan gives new users the chance to see a demo of the software, but there isn't currently a free trial. Since the platform is more full service than most of the other providers we've seen, it's unsurprising that it offers custom solutions rather than preset subscription tiers. You should talk to its sales team during the initial consultations to get a quote, learn more about the software, and make a fully informed decision.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Solid user reviews
  • Receives at least one monthly update
  • Clear data visualization tools

Cons

  • May be too powerful and expensive for smaller teams

What Customers Are Saying

While Anaplan has generated lots of positive feedback from its customer base, we noticed two common criticisms when reading through user reviews. Some users felt that the application is too expensive for the functionality it offers, while others had negative experiences with the customer support team.

If you have a problem with your cash flow management software, you need to get the issue resolved as quickly as possible. CAFLOU offers an informative education center that gives details about various aspects of the application, plus responsive customer service through either email or live chat. On top of those offerings, we also found that users are extremely happy with the quality of support they receive from CAFLOU. We found it to be the provider with the best customer service in 2022.

An October 2021 update introduced color coding for different types of elements. For example, you might use three different colors for customers, suppliers, and internal team members, or different colors for leads at different stages of the sales cycle. This release also included some new processes and automation options, such as setting up an automated email to trigger after a task is left inactive for a specific period of time.

Pricing for CAFLOU is based on the subscription tier you want as well as the number of users you need to add to your account. Plans start at $11 per user, per month (Carp), $16 per user, per month (Dolphin), and $230 per user, per month (Shark, which comes with a 10-user minimum). However, those rates go down significantly for clients with larger teams. For example, a team of 10 users would pay $7 per user, per month, for Carp, $9.10 per user, per month, for Dolphin, and $23 per user, per month, for Shark. The three tiers mostly differ in their limits — for example, Carp comes with 300 application programming interface (API) requests per month for a team of 10 users, compared to 80,000 for Dolphin and unlimited for Shark.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Reliable support
  • Basic free option
  • Regularly updated

Cons

  • Per-user pricing can get expensive for larger teams

What Customers Are Saying

CAFLOU has a perfect average review score of 5 out of 5. While that average was only calculated from a sample of about 25 users, it's enough to show that customers are mostly satisfied with the application.

Most Affordable
Visit Cash Flow Frog
Cash Flow Frog gives users some basic cash flow management tools for free, but we added it to our list because of its flexible, affordable paid options for businesses of all sizes. Users can choose one of two subscription tiers, each of which comes with scalable prices depending on your annual revenue. Like other providers, Cash Flow Frog also offers substantial discounts for prepayment: 20% off for annual plans and 35% off for biennial plans. Based on our research, it's the most affordable cash flow management platform for most clients in 2022.

When looking at the Cash Flow Frog website, we noticed that the application has only received a handful of new features in 2021. Furthermore, some of those features seem to be relatively minor — for example, a September release introduced the option to add thresholds to cash flow graphs so that users can see when their cash drops below a certain figure. While that's a helpful tool, it's not an especially impressive update considering the relatively infrequent release schedule.

Free Cash Flow Frog members are limited to one user, one data sync per day, and two months of history, and they also miss out on some important features. The Standard plan, starting at $19 per month billed every two years for organizations with less than $200,000 in annual sales, supports two users, three daily data syncs, a full year of history, and extra tools like account mapping, cash inflows and outflows, and a table of transactions. Pro starts at $25 per month for the same parameters and includes even more features, such as one-on-one training, extra charts, and support for up to 10 users.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Solid free plan
  • Affordable, scalable pricing
  • Positive user reviews

Cons

  • Limited updates

What Customers Are Saying

Cash Flow Frog doesn't have an especially large review sample, but the feedback we saw was mostly positive. In particular, customers mentioned that they were able to spend less time on cash management while producing even better results.

Most of the cash flow management platforms we looked at focus on analyzing inflows and outflows. Fluidly is one of the only applications we've seen that gives users the tools they need to bring in more money. It can connect you quickly with funding offers tailored to your business, and it also provides automatable credit control features to help subscribers bring in invoices more quickly. It's the best service in 2022 for companies that want to maximize their funding.

With Fluidly's credit control system, you'll be able to see debtors color-coded based on the status of their account. The platform also comes with prewritten emails for late payments, reminding debits to fulfill their obligations and giving them a link to the invoice. While the Fluidly blog receives semi-regular posts, we weren't able to find details about any recent updates.

Like most of the other providers we've covered, Fluidly gives users a free trial to test out the application risk-free. In this case, you'll have 14 days to work with Fluidly before making a final decision. From there, quotes are given on an individual basis. If you're looking for business funding, keep in mind that offers may vary widely depending on several factors, including your revenue, cash on hand, and how much money you need.

Along with rich financial and operational dashboards, FinAlyzer also gives users robust customization tools to help them interpret data in the way that makes the most sense for their business. When reading through user reviews, we also found that nearly every customer was able to take advantage of the platform's reporting features.

Unfortunately, FinAlyzer is another provider that doesn't appear to offer much support for its software. Looking at its blog, we weren't able to find any posts later than January 2021, which gave us some concern for the application's long-term outlook. Meanwhile, we saw a few positive reviews from the latter half of 2021, so customers still seem to be happy with its performance.

It's worth noting that its offices are in India and the Netherlands, which could pose a problem for clients in North America who are likely five or more hours away from any FinAlyzer location. You probably do most of your cash flow management work on a desktop or laptop, but it may also be helpful to have access to your finances on a mobile device. We chose Cash Book as the best platform in 2022 for Android users due to its incredibly popular Android app. Cash Book has an average rating of 4.8 on the Google Play Store with more than 35,000 reviews, illustrating its popularity among Android users. It offers both personal and business finance tools, with a clear interface that works well on both Android and desktop.

One drawback to Cash Book is that it isn't available as an iOS app. This is especially disappointing given that it fills a key niche for mobile users. Features include real-time calculations, separate books for different accounts, and easy exporting to either Excel or PDF. Users can also add other team members to their accounts for convenient collaboration.

Best of all, Cash Book is totally free to use with no premium features at all, so it's an ideal choice for startups and small businesses. Unlike most other free mobile apps, it won't make you deal with popup ads or any other promotional materials. While Cash Book isn't as robust as some other applications, it's a great free tool for simple financial monitoring.

How We Chose the Best Cash Flow Management Software

When it comes to managing cash flow, you can't afford any inaccuracies. However, keeping track of inflows and outflows can be incredibly difficult, especially for organizations with complex workflows or many different revenue streams.

With the right cash flow management software, you'll be able to track your money more accurately while spending less time on tedious, repetitive tasks. We centered our evaluations on these four criteria to help you find the best provider for your unique situation.

Business Finance Tools

Every platform we've listed offers a robust set of cash flow management features, but there are still significant differences in the functionality offered by each service. The particular finance tools available with each listed application should be the start of your evaluation.

When looking at the top providers, we found that Adaptive offered the best balance of functionality with pricing, ease of use, and total value. That made it stand out to us as the best overall provider available in 2022. However, you still might find that another service makes more sense for the specific needs of your business or organization.

Ease of Use

Even if an application offers detailed cash tracking and analytics, you won't be able to fully leverage that information if it's presented in a complicated or counterintuitive interface. Usability has a direct impact on your workflow and should be another key consideration when looking for a new provider.

Ease of use comprises numerous different factors, including visual design, availability on different devices and operating systems, connections to third-party software, and educational resources to help users through the onboarding process. We selected Float as the easiest platform in 2022 due to its streamlined design and positive customer feedback.

Pricing

Cash flow management is all about the bottom line, so you can't complete your evaluation without considering the price of each option you're considering. As with our other software reviews, we looked at cash flow management services at many different price points to give you options for every user.

While a larger budget will generally give you access to more robust functionality, you don't have to break the bank to get basic cash management tools. CashFlowTool offers a surprisingly powerful toolkit at no charge, which makes it an easy choice as the best free option available in 2022.
